Hospitality and Tourism

'Hospitality and Tourism’ is the perfect course for me, as I enjoy the variety and the two subjects complement each other brilliantly.

A great advantage of this course is its flexibility, as I get a range of options to choose.

Options to choose from in the optional subject, and I can focus on either Hospitality or Tourism. I enjoy touring different places and meeting people from different parts of the world. I have found the subject easy and enjoyable for me. Assignments are interesting, CTH and teachers from HECS have made it easy for us, which means that working with their guidance we enjoy and learn a lot;  so have the largely chosen tourism industries. As a Hospitality and Tourism PGD student, I have access to the e-library, one of the most modern facilities in CTH. It has extremely useful and accessible Books and Literature along with the HECS library – as well as a great refreshment area!
The nature and quality of the College is very different from that of its contemporary ones in the UK, with a far greater focus on independent study alongside tutorials, classes, group works, assignments, seminars and lectures. I find it to be a stimulating and fulfilling way to learn.
The collegiate system is an excellent way to make friends and settle into Aberdeen life. All of my friends have got part-time jobs and accommodation and we settled in the city within one month. Also HECS has good links with the newly built Aberdeen Sports Village where we can use all the facilities.

The one thing that I love doing and would never get tired of is travelling, so I applied for Hospitality and Tourism! I do encourage you to follow your heart and choose to study something that you really love. I found there was a significant transition from doing tours to college work for PGD.

Eespecially as I had taken a gap year to do a Health course at the University of Aberdeen and gain work experience in a school. At the same time I met with tourists in the heart of the Himalayas which is the world’s most famous tourist spot.  It gives me all the support that I need, and ensures that I always stay on the right track, as well as engaging in a deep discussion of ideas. Hospitality and tourism is a sector where I can meet people, make friends and connections, use my interest and creativity and above all it is the field where I can develop my career.Students here do cover a very wide range of texts, and are expected to do a lot of independent work. This introduces you to many tourism issues and themes, from historical approaches to modern methods.
