'Hospitality and Tourism’ is the perfect course for me, as I enjoy the variety
and the two subjects complement each other brilliantly.
A great advantage of this course is its flexibility, as I get a range of options
to choose from in the optional subject, and I can focus on either Hospitality or
Tourism. I enjoy touring different places and meeting people from different
parts of the world. I have found the subject easy and enjoyable for me.
Assignments are interesting, CTH and teachers from HECS have made it easy for
us, which means that working with their guidance we enjoy and learn a lot; so have the largely chosen tourism
industries. As a Hospitality and Tourism PGD student, I have access to the
e-library, one of the most modern facilities in CTH. It has extremely useful and
accessible Books and Literature along with the HECS library – as well as a great
refreshment area!
The nature and quality of the College is very different from that of its
contemporary ones in the UK, with a far greater focus on independent study
alongside tutorials, classes, group works, assignments, seminars and lectures. I
find it to be a stimulating and fulfilling way to learn.
The collegiate system is an excellent way to make friends and settle into
Aberdeen
life. All of my friends have got part-time jobs and accommodation and we settled
in the city within one month. Also HECS has good links with the newly built Aberdeen Sports Village
where we can use all the facilities.
Graduates from this course are highly employable in a variety of sectors, and
are particularly valued by firms in the City. I have already approached travel
companies for internship opportunities.'

'The one thing that I love doing and would never get tired of is travelling, so
I applied for Hospitality and Tourism! I do encourage you to follow your heart
and choose to study something that you really love.
I found there was a significant transition from doing tours to college work for
PGD, especially as I had taken a gap year to do a Health course at the
University
of Aberdeen and gain work
experience in a school. At the same time I met with tourists in the heart of the
Himalayas which is the world’s most famous tourist spot. It gives me all the support that I
need, and ensures that I always stay on the right track, as well as engaging in
a deep discussion of ideas. Hospitality and tourism is a sector where I can meet
people, make friends and connections, use my interest and creativity and above
all it is the field where I can develop my career.Students here do cover a very
wide range of texts, and are expected to do a lot of independent work. This
introduces you to many tourism issues and themes, from historical approaches to
modern methods.
It’s a very diverse environment and there are all sorts of student societies to
get involved in. I have joined my college case study competition and I am
arranging a tour plan for college. Studying here has been a dream come true for
me – not only is the city like a Scottish Postcard from the movie “Braveheart”,
the course itself is an adventure.'

“I love immersing myself in a new and different culture, whether that’s a
foreign country or a new study institution. I really enjoy learning about new
ideas and interactions, both societal and cultural. As a graduate in geography,
I have a detailed understanding of world-geography, which I can use in the
Hospitality and Tourism Industry to help enterprises and others to fulfil the
customers’ needs. This also involves
analysing and interacting with large quantities of complex data with its
practical applications in a way that would otherwise be impossible.
In the last decade the World Wide Web has taken over lots of front-desk
activities in the hospitality and tourism industry. There was an essential need
to match this industry with new and emerging technology — well done by the
recent practitioners, really. It’s the perfect time for a field like e-marketing
to make an impact and enable us to make sense of all these.
Aberdeen
is a nice tourist city. The Queen of the UK
spends her summer time in
Scotland.
Aberdeen is called the oil capital of Europe and is the richest council as far as I know. This also has helped me to
find a part-time job and standard accommodation in this city.”
